Andrés Nicolás D'Alessandro ( born April 15, 1981 in La Paternal , Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine footballer . He played as an attacking midfielder and his last club was Inter Porto Alegre of the Brazilian Serie A.

He began his professional career with River Plate . He debuted in 2000 and also won three national championships. He then moved to VfL Wolfsburg in Germany, where he played for three seasons and where he alternated between good and bad performances. In 2006, he had a brief stint with Portsmouth FC in the English Premier League , where he played for half a season, before moving to Spain to play for Zaragoza in the first division .

In 2008, he returned to South America , more specifically to Argentina , and played for San Lorenzo , with whom he played in the Clausura Tournament and the Copa Libertadores , where he finished in fourth place and in the quarterfinals, respectively. At the end of that year, he was transferred to Inter de River Plate for a one-year loan. With the Argentine national team, he has won two titles (one in the youth categories and one in the senior categories) and a runner-up position. He has participated in one edition of the Copa América and in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, where he won the gold medal .

Individually, he is the player with the third most appearances in Internacional 's history , with 500 official matches. He is 15th in Internacional 's all-time scoring charts and is the eighth player with the most goals for Internacional in Clásicos , with nine in 32 matches.
