Ramón Ángel Díaz ( La Rioja , August 29, 1959) is an Argentine former footballer and manager . He is currently without a club.

He is the most successful manager in the history of River Plate after Marcelo Gallardo , the most successful league coach along with Ángel Labruna and the most successful Argentine coach in history with 17 titles in total.

He won 14 titles with River Plate (five as a player and nine as a coach). He is considered an idol of the Argentine club, being included in the list of idols presented by the fans in 2020.

Emerging from River Plate's youth academy, he made his debut in the 1978-79 season, winning four titles from 1979 to 1981 and becoming a top scorer. Throughout his career, he signed with Napoli , Fiorentina , and Inter , among other Italian clubs. Upon his return to River Plate between 1991 and 1993, he won another title and became a top scorer again. He finally retired with Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan in 1994.

As an international, he won the 1979 World Youth Championship with the Argentina U-20 national team alongside Maradona . He then played in the 1982 World Cup with the senior team .
