José Fabián Paz y Miño (Quito, March 16, 1953) is a former Ecuadorian soccer player. He played as a center forward positioned on the left wing, his main peculiarities being the speed and the sense of the goal. Born and raised in Quito, he joined the El Nacional club in 1972, after receiving the award for the best debutant in Pichincha.2 Led by Héctor Morales, Paz y Miño became one of the most representative players of the military team.At the age of twenty-seven he was the victim of an injury that forced him to remain inactive for a year; however, after rehabilitation sessions in Brazil, he recovered.
With eight national leagues obtained during his professional career, he is, together with Carlos Ron, the footballer with the most titles won in Ecuador.1 2 His 155 goals also make him the top scorer for a single club in the Ecuadorian league.2 3 He retired in September 1988, playing his last game against LDU Quito. In his ten-year international career, he made nineteen appearances and four goals for the Ecuadorian national soccer team; His debut was on June 22, 1975, then he retired from the national team on February 21, 1985.
