Atilio Raúl Herrera ( Buenos Aires , Argentina , January 21, 1951) is a former Argentine soccer player . He played as a defender and played for various clubs in Argentina and Chile .
His beginnings were in the lower divisions of Boca Juniors , but he made his professional debut at River Plate , he also played for Estudiantes de Buenos Aires and Huracán.
In 1976 he emigrated to Chile where he became well known for his time with Colo-Colo , with which he was Chilean soccer champion in 1979 . In that year where Colo Colo won the Chilean championship, Herrera shared the squad with players such as Carlos Caszely , Severino Vasconcelos , Leonardo Veliz and Oscar Wirth among others.
In 1983 he would arrive at Rangers de Talca , motivated by an important project proposed by a club that required changes after almost relegation the previous year. In the red and black institution he would reach a very good level, being one of the strongholds of the team. He shared a squad with outstanding players who marked that decade at the club such as Rubens Nicola and Pablo Prieto . In 1985 he would be one step away from qualifying for the Copa Libertadores by finishing one point behind Universidad Católica in the pre-liberators league of that year.
