Ángel Luis Bossio ( Avellaneda , May 5, 1905 - Banfield , August 31, 1978) was an Argentine soccer player , who served as a goalkeeper . He was a silver medal winner at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics . He was also a member of the Argentine team that was runner-up in the 1930 World Cup , playing in three games in the qualifying series. He was also twice American champion , in 1927 and 1929. Bossio was called the elastic wonder .


Ángel Luis Bossio began playing soccer at the Club Atlético Talleres de Remedios de Escalada . Bossio was part of a historic Talleres team, with which the club was promoted to the first division in 1925 and had the best campaign in its history in 1930, when it finished 5th. 
He was a member of the Argentine national team between 1927 and 1935, playing 21 international matches, and winning the silver medal at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympic Games and the world runner-up in the 1930 Soccer World Cup.He was also champion of America twice in 1927 and 1929. 
In 1933, already in the era of professional football in Argentina, he was acquired by River Plate , for whom he played in the 1933, 1934 and 1935 seasons.

Ángel Bossio was a member of the soccer team that won a silver medal at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympic Games as the starting goalkeeper .
Fifteen countries were presented: Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Egypt, Spain, United States, France, Holland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Switzerland, Turkey, Uruguay and Yugoslavia. The teams were divided into four groups, with only the first qualifying. Argentina had to play with the United States and Belgium. 
The match with the United States was played on May 30 and was won by Argentina 11-2, with 4 goals from Tarasconi, 3 from Ferreira, 2 from Cherro and 2 from Orsi. The match with Belgium was played on June 2 and Argentina won 6-3, with goals from Tarasconi (4), Ferreira and Orsi. In this match, Argentina had taken a 3-0 lead and Belgium tied it 3-3 at 53 minutes, to define it the South Americans scored three more goals in the last fifteen minutes. In the semifinals Argentina-Egypt and Uruguay-Italy faced each other. Argentina beat Egypt on June 6, 6-0, with goals from Tarasconi (3), Ferreira (2) and Cherro (1). Uruguay beat Italy the next day 3-2. 3
Then there was a River Plate final, one of the oldest classics in the world, which was played on June 10 at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam . The match ended tied 1-1 with goals in the first half from Petrone ( URU ) and in the second from Ferreira (ARG), 3 and they played 30 more minutes of "overtime", without goals. 5
A playoff match then had to be played on June 13. The first half ended tied 1-1 with goals from Figueroa (URU) and Monti (ARG). In the second half, at 68 minutes, Héctor Scarone , considered at that time the best player in the world, scored the goal that ended up giving the gold medal to Uruguay, for the second consecutive time, and the silver medal to Argentina, corresponding to the bronze to Italy. 
Tarasconi was the top scorer of the Games with 11 goals, an Olympic record never surpassed, while second place in the scoring table also belonged to an Argentine, Ferreira, with 6 goals. Two Argentine players from that team (Monti and Orzi) later played for the Italy team that won the 1934 World Cup .
