Waldir Pereira ( Campos dos Goytacazes , Rio de Janeiro , October 8, 1928 - Rio de Janeiro , May 12, 2001), better known as Didi , was a Brazilian footballer and coach who played as a midfielder , played for Brazilian clubs such as Fluminense and Botafogo ; also in Spain he wore the Real Madrid shirt .
He was a member of the historic Brazil national football team that won the World Cup in Sweden 1958 , where he was considered the best player of the tournament, and Chile 1962. He is one of the greatest Brazilian footballers in history and for the IFFHS one of the twenty best footballers of the 20th century . He was nicknamed "the Ethiopian Prince" for the elegance and class he brought to the midfield of the teams he played for.
Due to his goals, achievements and career, he was included by IFHOC- FIFA in the original International Football Hall of Champions in 2000, and on December 14, 2020, he was included as a defensive midfielder in the third historic Dream Team of the Ballon d'Or
