The Cup Tie Competition 1900 (also called the " Chevallier Boutell " Competition Cup 1900 ) was the first edition of this official and international competition, organized by The Argentine Association Football League .

The Cup that was at stake was donated by the president of The Argentine Association Football League, Francis Chevallier Boutell , and for this reason it bore his name. The final of the tournament was held in Buenos Aires , while the semifinals were held in Montevideo and Rosario .

There were going to be eight participating teams, but due to Montevideo 's refusal , that number was reduced to seven.
