Story: The 1977 Copa Libertadores was the eighteenth edition of the most important club tournament in South America , organized by the South American Football Confederation , in which teams from ten South American countries participated: Argentina , Bolivia , Brazil , Chile , Colombia , Ecuador , Paraguay , Peru , Uruguay and Venezuela .
The champion was Boca Juniors of Argentina, who thus achieved their first title in the competition. Thanks to this, they competed in the 1977 Intercontinental Cup against Borussia Mönchengladbach of Germany , and the 1977 Inter-American Cup against América of Mexico . They also automatically qualified for the second round of the 1978 Copa Libertadores .
